Default LS1 lifespan

I was just wondering how many miles an LS1 can take before it starts having some problems. Im just curious cuz Im planning on buying one soon and I want to know what to look for, and what would/wouldnt be reliable, thanks for any comments

Totally matters on how the car was driven and how often maintanance was done on it.

My friends 100% stock 98' TA has 140K on it and and runs like a clock. Just needed a 4L60E rebuild about 15K miles ago. Mods drastically shorten the lifespan of any car.

If your buying a used one, go with an M6. Simply because they can take more that the auto can. Second only go with high miles if your going with a stroker because most wouldnt want to go through the trouble of tearing down the block just to replace rings. Third get a car fax, its the best way to protect yourself from buying a lemon.

My 98 M6 has 70K miles on it, I've had the tranny rebuilt (purely my fault, GM shifter causing missed shifts ) Replace the slave cylinder, and thats it maintence wise... I run the engine to 6300 every day of the week, and just generally beat the hell out of it, and she rewards me by stomping cars with more mods than she has.... OH YEAH and she burns NO OIL. NONE.

I only have 20,000 miles on my 2001 Z28.I see motor going 150,000 miles before valve guides and ring wear would affect power output. Im talking modded here also. This motor is more reliable than most non car guy engines that have been sold out there. Pre 2000 LS1 should have oil pump updated, and all modded cars should put better timing chain set up in there. Go for it!
