**Just did my Cam Swap...possible problem**

At 700 rpms... I don't think that's a problem. Does the oil pressure shoot up right away when you give it gas?
As long as the oil is responsive to your throttle and stays within reason... I wouldn't worry.

I also think the pump is worth looking at and since you're there changing.

I was going to do the oil pump....but we wanted to finish the car the same day, and it wasn't possible for us so we didn't do the oil pump or timing chain. I went with a torquer 2 cam 232/234 .595 .598. I run mobil 1 synthetic with a k&n filter...My friends are telling me to run redline or royal purple instead of mobil 1 because it runs thin. One of my friends even told me that he saw an increase of 7 psi when he switched to redline. Feedback is appreciated...thanks!

I run mobil 1, and dont have any problems with oil pressure. And i doubt you would see THAT big of a jump by switching. you might see 3-4 psi. I dont know man. It sounds like your oil pump is just starting to take a dump on you, if you say you didnt mess with it at all. With that cam, your oil pressure should be pretty steady, even at idle.

Ahhhh that sux! I was in this boat a week ago... I can say from my experience in having the exact same problem as you, that you most likely pinched the o-ring. its a bitch but you have no choice but to tear it back down and chech it.
I almost pinched mine again when putting it back together the 2nd time but my buddy noticed that the o-ring was sitting ****-eyed on the pickup tube after we had moved the pump around a little.
my advice is to put the pick up tube bolt in all the way before you put any of the pump bolts in so that it lines up exactly flush to the pump.

Pinched "O"ring?
It sounds like the "O"ring to me. I did the same thing on my ls1 C%. Had to take everything back apart to replace it. After that the oil pressure was ok.

fastest94... I just did my ms4 cam swap and my car has higher mileage... Put in a new ls6 oil pump. At cold start it has like 40-45 psi and after warm goes down to about 25psi. This is about how my stock pump acted... I wouldn't worry too much about it man. The first time I put my motor back together my psi was at 20psi and dropped as it got warmer(o ring was pinched/no good). Don't worry about it man as long as the oil pressure climbs when you get into the throttle etc... then you're fine IMO unless it doesn't follow the 100 psi per 1000rpm rule or real close

My car is still untuned so i really don't want to go WOT.....laying into it at 4k rpms it was at exactly around 42 psi give or take. But one thing is for sure...when it idles it may be around 25ish but when i go it'll fly right up. I just can't afford to change out the motor.
