Stroker question
Picked up a block today and i am going to stroke it. What does everyone think about a 4.125 crank with the stock bore. Would the stroke be way to big for the bore. I am looking for the maximum power without sending this thing to ARE or MTI. So stroking is really the only way. Anyone have this set up.

Re: Stroker question
With a 3.9" bore, the 4.125" stroke is way too big. For about $600, one can pick up the LQ4, aka 6.0L, block. With the 4.0" bore of the stock LQ4, it can handle the 4.125" stroke just fine. Even better if it was overbored to 4.030" or 4.060". I would go 4.030" overbore if you are planning to use nitrous or forced induction and 4.060" for N/A.
4.0 x 4.125 = 415 CID
4.03 x 4.125 = 421 CID
4.06 x 41.25 = 427 CID
4.0 x 4.125 = 415 CID
4.03 x 4.125 = 421 CID
4.06 x 41.25 = 427 CID

I have heard that the clearancing needed for a 4.125" stroke and on 3.9 bore would open up the water jackets. Maybe they have found some other method to obtain the needed clearance.
