Default Better to gain compression from heads of pistons

I was wondering if its better to mill the heads or use domed pistons. Or are they the same. I am gonna be using 5.3 liter heads so i only need to gain about .3 compression.

If at all possible, try and get your compression increase by milling the heads.

Better to use a flat or slightly dished piston, and a small combustion chamber rather than a big combustion chamber and a big dome. A big piston dome only slows down the flame front and interferes with the combustion process.

If you only want .3 level of compression higher, you can go these options:

1) mill the heads 0.020"

2) +2cc done piston

A +2cc done piston will not slow down the flame travel. Flame travel comes into effect when the dome is fairly large, +10cc or more.

The other thing to keep in mind is price. A set of custom +2cc pistons will cost you $630 and milling the heads will cost about $75. You do the math <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

If at all possible, you want to use a flat top piston over the dome. So milling your heads would be the best bet.
