Default Got my heads/cam in

Well, last night my heads/cam install was finished.

First thing I noticied of course, was the car didn't want to idle with the cam. So we drilled out the hole in the throttle body, and modified the flapper so it stayed slightly open at idle. Now it idled fine, except for the awesome cam lope.

Took it for a drive, and raced a local Z28 with true duals, hooker headers, LID and LS6 intake manifold.

In 3rd gear, I couldnt pull more than about car on him. (at end of 3rd, i was slightly past his bumper. By 4th, i was really walking him bad. This sucks. I was thinking in 3rd gear I would murder him. I know my car is running rich, I still need to ATAP it, but the 3 foot flames out of each tailpipe lead me to believe its rich. However, besides that, what could my problem be? Basically, I'm kinda upset because it doesn't feel as insane as I thought it would. Anyone else with heads/cam only really start moving at higher gears/speed?

We both have stock gears. Should I get 3.73s? 4.10s? Arg.

Below are my mods:

BlackHeads CNC Stage 2 Ported 6.0 liter heads
2.02 x 1.55 valves
283 @ .600 intake 239 @ .600 exhaust
Comp Cams Magnum Lifters
Rev Stainless 5 angle valves
Comp Cams Titanium Retainers
Comp Cams 941 Valve Springs
Comp Cams 226/232 .568/.568 112 LSA Cam
10.8:1 Compression, 7000 redline
NGK TR-55 @ .050
Taylor Race Plug Wires
LS6 Intake Manifold
LS6 MAF
Hooker 1 3/4" Longtube Headers
Hooker 3" Offroad Y-Pipe
Mufflex 4" catback with Spintech muffler

The setup put down 448rwhp and 435rwtq.

Thanks.

Dude, you just have heads/cam over him, you aren't gonna murder anybody. Sheesh. 50-60rwhp isnt enough to "murder" another F-body. You'll see soon enough. Time and time again I see people do heads/cam/etc and they think they should just tear everybody a new ******* the second the race starts, but its just not how it works in real life. You have to build up the MPH difference between the two cars racing before you'll start to leave him, at least when going from a roll.

You cant just instantaniously be going 15mph faster than the other guy the second the race starts.

If you haven't had heads/cam LS1's before (I'm on my 3rd), don't worry about it. What you describe is normal.

Will 3.73s be worthy, or maybe 4.10s?

The car is fast, I guess all motor just doesn't feel like it.

You aren't making 100rwhp on him right when you start the race unless you are sitting there at 6500rpms ready to punch it when he does. Gears would help you get up where you make the most power the quickest. At 4000rpms I doubt you are making that much more power than him. It just takes time to build up the speed to start pulling away. I've been in probably 200 "roll" races in the past few years, its just how it works. Even when the cars were 200rwhp apart, it still takes a second or two before one car really leaves the other.

You're setup makes high-end power, I would venture to say his bolt on car makes as much or more horsepower at lower rpms this is why he is able to keep up at lower speeds. A set of 4.10's will help tremendously, but if you want an instantaneous difference add a shot of N2O. You WILL IMMEDIATELY make his car go into reverse.
