Default Help me decide what bore to use on 6.0 Irnblock stoker 422 vs 427

Just ordered my MTI superstroker Ironblock LS1 for my 98 Vette Roadster.

I am looking to do 10s on motor on this car and am into naturally aspirated power and not N20.
Here are my options, i will either overbore the 6.0 liter block to 4.035 and matched with a 4.125 crank to get 422 cubes (and that way i can spray in the future if i want, even though i do not belive i will ever spray this engine) but would always have that option that would allow me to try to get into the 9s on motor and N20.

Option #2:-Go with what i have seen to be the max bore on a ironblock, 4.060 and matched with crank 4.125=427 beautiful cubic inches. If i go this route i obviously will not spray, even if i changed my mind an decided i wanted to spray.

Will the 4.060 bore for 427 cubes make that much more power than the 4.035 overbore and what bore will most likely allow me to reach my goal of 10s on motor?

Help me decide what bore to go with between these two options as i need to decide asap so MTI can order my pistons!

Thanks for all input,

MTI 422 Z07 Roadster

I would guestimate the difference between the 422 setup and the 427 setup would be about 10 rwhp. For 10 ponies, I would go with the 4.03 for reliability

SPDC has a stock iron 6.L block for $550. The bore is 4.00. What does MTI charge for their block?

Hmmmm....

10 HP from 5 cubic inches or 2 HP/in^3.

I would have guessed 5 - 7 rwhp. What makes the extra cubes produce that much incremental gain?

More bore = more head flow. If you want to run 10s I'd stick with an alum block, IMHO.

I would stick with 4.03 bore and 4.125 stroke. Didn't you post this question already?
