Default Information needed for all bore build.

Hi guys,

I am looking at doing an all bore build for my engine as it is currently out of the car but I have a few questions that I hope you might be able to help with. I already have the cam/valvetrain in the engine so that's not an issue.

1. Bore size - I am looking at either a 4.1" or 4.125" bore by resleeving the block, is there any preference between the two? Is the bigger bore within safe limits to have for a daily driver.

2. Offset ground crank - Is it worth the effort? Does it cost a lot to do? If I was going to do it I would offset the crank to run 2.000" journals instead of 2.100" journals.

3. Headwork - I currently have stock LS1 heads/intake/injectors, what sort of headwork is definately needed for the all bore? I am looking at getting some work done on the intake/exhaust ports and opening up the combustion chamber for the bigger bore, but do I need to increase valve sizes? Will I be able to run the stock LS1 injectors or will they max out on this engine?

4. Conrods - Seeing I am doing this on a very small budget I am wondering whether the stock rods are good enough to use in this build. I know that getting forged rods will be better, but this engine will stay N/A and will only be taken to the track occasionally.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Brett.

An offset grind will increase your stroke. If you go to 2.000 inch journals, then I believe you can use SBC rods, which are cheaper.

No such thing as a budget build either you want it bullet proof or you want to be fixing it every 5000ks, if you going to the trouble do it once do it right.

For the added cost of good rods it really isnt an argument the outlay for a complete long block all bore setup with stage 2 heads will realistically set you back $20,000 Aust up and running.

John dont you dare sell him my 4.100 block
