Hunting idle??

Hunting idle?? My local dealer has just replaced the rings due to high oil consumption. And now the car is experiencing a minor problem.
Withen 20 seconds from a cold start-up the rpm's surge within a 200-300rpm range.
The dealer said to give the computer time to learn. Well, 300 miles later and it's still at it.
Any idea's before going back to them. I was thinking a vacume??
