Default thinking of solid roller 382 all bore! :)

ok here are the plans,
382 ci all bore,solid roller 232*/240* .620"/.630"
MTI stage 3 ls6 heads, and extrude honed holley intake manifold...here are the questions..do you think a goal of 460 RWHP is obtainable through slp longtubes and a 3in. cut-out?how periodic are valve adjustments?is this a suitable combo for "average" street driving?and do you think this combo would enjoy a little laughing gas?..thanks!

If you can't do better than 460's you've got issues!

That engine should rock and launch you deep into the 10s matched with the proper stall and gears, etc. I think 460rwhp would be a no brainer. SOLID ROLLER RULES no doubt!

cool thanks for the reply's.I was just curious..i made the combo up while sitting on my couch yesterday and thought i would give it a try..a couple of friends of mine are running VERY crappy numbers with ARE stroker's....i can slaughter my friends 385ci ARE without me spraying and my only internal mod is a cam! i have seen the all bore in action and it looks like a better deal...my beleif is the 382 "stroker" is just extra heavy reciprocating weight in the bottom end..because all the strokers "AROUND HERE" are getting eaten alive by6 the H/C cars and all bore cars....just giving my 02 now i know of some VERY fast srtroker cars...but i also know some slow ones..so all bore here i come!

dump the Holley. To extrude hone it you will pay around $700, a total and complete *** rip and NO lube.
Stick with the LS6 or get a custom intake, but don't give Holley or LPE any money for that POS intake.

I'm getting ready to build one too but I'm going 408 from the iron 6.0 block with a 4.030 bore and a 4.0 stroke

My car is also still going to serve as my daily driver even though I only put about 5000 miles on it a year. I am also thinking about the solid roller set up but I just don't think I would like having to adjust it all the time.

More than likely the bottom end is topped off with some crappy heads and a mismatched cam.

If 460 rwhp is your goal, there is no reason to go to a solid roller. Besides, a 232 SR is a small cam for an all bore setup.

well i dont know man..the only thing im saying is they were built and distruibuted by ARE...every stroker around here is just pathetic..the fastest one down here ran 11.57@115..thats an ARE 385ci with mti stage 2 ls6's and an MTI S1 cam...why is it so slow?..it's an auto with 4.10's 12 bolt and 4200 yank converter...i dont understand those numbers..anyways hehe thanks for the insight i always thought the stroker's were heavier..thats cool to know, thanks man well i guess i will stay hydraulic roller then...if a 232/242 is to small..then i will stay HR and just use an S1 cam and spray it..thanks guys!

Tony and the MTI crew will probably tell you the S1 is too big for a 382 setup.

Also an S1 cam is an awfully big cam for a 385 stroker.

There could be other issues as well (tranny, etc) Are you a six speed or A4?

There are a lot of ARE/MTI etc strokers making 460+RWHP.

GeorgeC is running the quickest and fastest 382 all bore right now and it is completely built by ARE (ARE S2 heads and custom spec solid roller cam.)

Georges ARE 382 all bore: 10.1@132mph

MTI can definitely build you a killer setup as well.

cheers,
Chris
