Default Urgent- Can LQ4 ironblock be safely bored to 4.060" if no N20 or FI?

Need to make my final decision on my MTI ironblock (LQ4) motor and really want to get 427 cubes by going with 4.060" overbore and 4.125 crank vs. 4.035" overbore with 4.125 crank=422 cubes.

I really want the extra cubes here but do not want to jeopardize and realiability or bullet proof nature of engine. I am NOT GOING to SPRAY this engine with the gas and it will stay NATURALLY ASPIRTATED!

Need to make my mind up asap so MTI can order my pistons early this week.

Kindly respond and thanks for all input.

got your message and I will call you soon.

but overall, yes you most likely will be just fine. To be sure you would sonic test the block, but you should be OK. It will be safe, just no rebuilds or refresh.

Why would you want to bring the block out to it's max bore size for 5 ci? Just to say it's a 427?

INTMD8:

As long as its safe to go with a 4.060 overbore thats my preference b/c the more cubes the better for squeezing every last bit of power out of the engine and i want to get as close to 500/500 rwtq and rwhp and the 5 extra cubes could be worth 10 extra ponies and a tenth advantage in the 1/4 mile and i need every advantage i can get since i won't be spraying and will be trying for a consistent 10 second natuarlly aspirated C5 which is not an easy goal.

Bigger bore=more horesepower and 5 cubes is 5 cubes and is long as i don't jeopardize durabilty i would take a 427 vs. 422 any day.

SIR,

If i go with the 427 would you recommend a jacket filler or rock filler for extra durabilty or is this not necessary. Please explain what's involved with this as i am not sure but just bringing up what someone recommended to me.
