Default TR230 with 109 lsa?? Advice Needed

I'm looking for a cam that makes good power and torque throughout the entire RPM range to put in my Z06 (stock heads). The car isn't a daily driver and I want something that lopes HARD. Driveability really isn't an issue for me.

I like the top end power the TR230 makes but the lower end power and torque looks like it suffers some, and with my 3.42 gears it probably wouldn't perform well. The car is street driven, so I don't need to rev much over 6k rpm.

What type of effect would a 109 lsa have on the power and torque? Damian suggested the 109 lsa and we both think it would beef up the lower RPM range, making the Z06 a badass street car. Btw, my exhaust is flows VERY well <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> . TIA

Vacuum is not a problem on mustangs running the 109 LSA and this is the magic number for the intake biased split cams on that side.

I think it will be fine, you will want computer programming to raise and adjust idle quality.

I don't think a 109 LSA is gonna make a big difference at all. Fact of the matter is I gained 0 hp/tq with this cam until about 4500rpms on a 110.8 LSA. Even then the gains were minimal.

A 109 LSA is just going to shift the powerband down say 300-400 rpms tops?

So basically, the cam won't kick in at all until 3600rpms or so, and it will barely kick in at that. Not until about 4500rpms will you feel a noticeable difference IMO, and that doesn't fit the criteria you are looking for.

See for yourself the gains I had at different rpm levels compared to just bolt ons. As you can see, the car didn't make any meaningful power gains till about 5000rpms. You aren't going to get power gains across the whole rpm range IMO. ONLY above say 4000-4500rpms.

rpm bolt-ons heads/cam difference

4500 318hp/372tq 330hp/380tq 12rwhp/8rwtq
5000 351hp/369tq 380hp/397tq 29rwhp/28rwtq
5500 362hp/345tq 408hp/385tq 36rwhp/40rwtq
6000 355hp/310tq 430hp/378tq 75rwhp/68rwtq
6200 349hp/296tq 435hp/370tq 86rwhp/74rwtq
6300 345hp/288tq 436hp/365tq 91rwhp/77rwtq

I'm glad you like MY idea <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

The X1/109 will be going in the motor shortly. Waiting on Jayson to finish having it cut for me. I will post dyno results when the car has about 500 miles on the new shortblock(won't be long)....Lata
