stock lifter vs. compcam lifter
850-16 is the part # for the standard LS1 compcam hydraulic roller lifter.
Thank you
Adnan
The Comp Cams R-series lifters #875-16 are lighter, designed for fast-ramp cams. However, they're not currently available.
Take your pick.

whats up man it's carter, what have you been up 2?heard the z is gone or going and your getting a c5 sweet choice,i was thinkin the same thing hehe but i love my z to much to leave it..but anyways,I also have spun the R's over 7k and no problems...what could have been the problem is incorrect pushrod length or to much spring pressure and just collapst the lifters..but who know's..could have been a bad set like 941 valvesprings were...just my 02...later!

The standard Comps or the Type Rs??? I ran my Type Rs to 7200 on juice and never had a single problem. Please elaborate on the problem you had.

I had the Type R's and floated one and ended up bending a valve. Took a nice knick out of the piston. I ran the 941's, so no problems with spring pressure. Oh well...

I'm replacing my lifters when I put the cam in... are GM lifters more reliable? Haven't heard much about Crane lifters.... what's the low down?
The Z should be back out by the end of the month. It won't be as built as the last configuration but should hold it's own against most of the N/A Zs around town. I was at the track recently and was a bit disappointed in the LS1 crowd. A year after I last ran my car at the track I still see people doing stupid things. There should be alot more mid 11 second cars around town these days.
As for the Type Rs... I wouldn't hesitate to use them again in any future motor I put together for my Z. One failure (not proven to be the lifter btw) should not deter anyone from going with the Comp lifters. Comp is very clear about the amount of preload needed for those lifters... it would be rare for anyone to hit that preload without adjustable rockers or custom length pushrods.

i think that no difference between the GM stock lifters and the compcam lifters in the performance gains , but what about the Crane lifters?
Thank you

comps are good (850's) but i had a set on for 3k miles and they bleed down alot (will sound like a collapsed lifter) after WOT for a few minues.
i don't know about the comp R's, but i know that they require almost ZERO prload.
oOoly, go with the stockers, i tried them all and now i'm going back to them, they are the best fit. and if they weren't as good as the others don't you think lingenfelter would have changed them?
The Type-R lifters also have more preload designed into the lifter. If you look at them you will see a shim at the pushrod seat. You will need a pushrod ~ 0.050" longer if you use the Type Rs
Tim

What? Are you sure? I have Comp R lifters, a TR 224 cam, and my heads were milled 0.030" or so and I'm using stock length pushrods. It looks like I better get out to my garage and check my preload. So I should have less preload because my pushrods might be too short, right?
Comp Cams lifters are made by Comp Cams, & GM lifters are made by GM. They are very similar. Ditto for the Crane lifters.

Might want to check into it before you get your heart set on it, though...
