Default good street cam/heads???

Ok....I have a set of 5.7 Liter heads over at a shop (local) getting ported/polished and having bigger valves put in.

The guy who is doing the work for me has done A LOT of engine.....everything from mild clean ups to 250+ MPH drag cars....so I trust his judgment but am still open to other peoples input.

As stated above....this is a street car (NO DRAG RACE).....if any racing it will be road racing once or twice a year.

The heads are 5.7 Liter. Rodger (the guy doing the work) said put the biggest valves I can get because the long runners in the intake will make up for the lower RPM and will really alow the engine to flow higher up...sooo...

2.08" intake/1.6" exhaust

yes....no.....

he also said to mill the heads at least 0.030...

next thing....looking at a cam....

I have the stock 2001 Z28 cam in the car now. Should I increase lift with 1.8:1 rockers or should I get a new cam? What would be a good street pounder cam? I could use a little more passing power on the highway. I have the MM6 with 3.73 rear gears.

Last thing....next couple of months I might do a supercharger.....how would that work with the things I'm doing/thinking of doing?

Thanks

Chris

I would get a new cam.. Another thing.. If he has not already done the valve work.. I would tell them to put 2.02 x 1.57's in.. Do not make the mistake I made.. 2.08 x 1.60's are too big for the 346ci to benefit from them.. That's just my opinion..

Sorry about that.. I am no cam expert, but the cams that have been working great are Futral Motorsports, Thunders, MTI's, LGM's, Ragings, and others.. I would consult with one of them for cam advice.. Now for the valves.. I was talked into 2.08 x 1.60's by a sales man, I mean head porter.. Ended up with terrible low lift #'s and flow characteristics that were decades old. I was warned by others on this very board to go with 2.02 x 1.57's.. I did not listen. I was Mr. Know it all.. My best suggestion is to shoot one of the vendors a email or call them about what type of driving you are going to be doing and let them recommend a setup.. My Mut setup seems to be working quite well right now.. I will be turning a few corners myself..

2.08/1.60 are good for strokers or forced induction. I also made the mistake of going way to big. Go with the 2.02's or 2.05's.
