I just ordered my LS6 valley cover and PCV setup from Shaun (valvegod@aol.com). I'm sick of the constant pinging I get at low throttles not to mention my car drinks oil for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
I have a 1999 LS1 block so I am going to need to clearance the boss under the stock valley cover in order to install the LS6 piece. I'm sure some people are familiar with what I am talking about. I'm looking for some advice on how the best way to do this would be. Preferably from some guys that have already done this.
Seems like my choices are:
1). Buy a grinder and grind it down (don't really want to buy expensive tools I'll never use again).
2). Buy a chisel and some bits and just knock through the softer aluminum block.
When I say best I mean, best in all ways, cost, time, success, etc.
TIA!

You can use a sawzall or wire saw and use a chisel with it. Took me about 15 mins.

Any special blade needed for the Sawzall? Tell me more about the wire saw...is this a power tool or regular hand saw that you are talking about here? Pictures are always good to!
