Spun Bearing? What's that mean? Symptoms?

Not sure what this means (or rather can't relate it since I've never seen a bearing or the bearing this refers to rather).
Are the bearings held statically? Meaning they're not supposed to move and if they get damaged they will spin? Kinda like breaking the teeth off a gear?
What are the symptoms of this (I know it's not one of my problems but the more info I and others know about these motors the better)
TIA
Mike

The bearings are crescent shaped. They sort of snap into place and form a complete circle when everything's bolted together. For a rod bearing, one half of the circle goes on the rod, the other half goes on the rod cap.
When oil pressure gets too low, the barrier it forms breaks down and you get more friction between the bearing and the crank journal that the two halves wrap around. The journal will "grab" the bearing and start spinning it around in there. It'll eventually wear enough material away that you get knock and possibly a window in your engine block. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
