We put the cam that came out of Jason99TAs motors on the Cam Doctor last weekend and it was 200/210 499/499 117lsa.

We measured the specs on an '01-'02 cam that was lying around the shop.

The specs are 197/208 .466/.475 on @ 118.

Are you sure those numbers aren't switched around? I thought the 01/02s had a more aggressive cam over the pre-01 cars. Just curious.

I've seen posted many times 01-02 cam is the milder one. That's one of the methods they used to get away without EGR.

It's neat to see actual info on the factory cams, you don't see it very often. I'd say the bottom line is: none of the stockers are worth much! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Those numbers don't seem logical for the 01-02 engine. In order to get rid of EGR you need more I-E overlap; that's the only way to get some exhaust dilution into the intake mixture WITHOUT using an EGR valve.
Milder cams don't let you eliminate the EGR, more aggressive ones do.

I'm not doubting the above numbers, it just doesn't make sense.

Increasing overlap may have EGR like effects but you'd also get unburned fuel to the exhaust not exaclty resulting in clean burn. Decreasing overlap on the other hand prevents fuel from leaking. Which effect dominates in a production engine I dunno.

This would support what you said though :
