Default All techno/stroker experts, Help me decide on high lift cam for 427 LQ4

MTI is building me my LQ4 427 superstoker as we speak with 4.060 overbore and 4.125 crank. As i will have more crank than bore, this will no doubt be a torque MONSTER that will not spin as high as some other options out there for strokers. That being said, i am planning to run MTI stage III LS6 heads and most aggressive hydraulic cam, MTI's S1, with specs of 244/244, 112lsa and .612 lift, thru my 98 C5 A4, with yank PT 4000 stall, FLP LEvel IV tanny and 3.73 Getrags.

Do you think i will benefit power wise and 1/4 mile et wise, if i have MTI do me a custom cam that has a .625 lift vs the .612 (offered on the S1) given all the variables set forth above, or not. Kindly explain the basis of your opinon.

Thanks for all intelligible replies! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

That totally depends on what lift peak headflow occurs. Personally I dont think you will see much if any difference. MTI most likely ports there S3 LS6 heads with the S1 cam specs in mind. I would stick with that personally. (Not worth the cost for a custom cam) Your car will make great torque and still be able to rev to 7Krpm no problem.

cheers,
Chris

The 244/.612 looks like a Comp 3150 lobe and a 242/.624 looks like a 3113. There wouldn't be much performance difference with the .012 extra lift with the same duration. (2 degrees is well within "advertising tolerance"). I wouldn't pay more for the "custom" cam.

That being said, in order to make a cam recommendation more information is needed:

What are the head and inlet manifold flows? That info is very critical for cam choice.

What does MTI recommend for a cam?
How high do they recommend you twist the engine?
