Default LT4 Hot cam conversion kit

I know this is LS1 tech, but just wondering if anyone saw what the new LT4 kit is doing for the LT1. The figures I saw produced 429 hp and 419 lbs. torque at the rear wheels, not bad for $2,500. Considering the relatively cheap prices of LT1 cars today, I almost wouldn't mind picking one up over an LS1 and throwing this kit on it. Would sure be cheaper then a blower for an LS1 which would put out similar figures.

429? A guy I work with has a C4. He has the LT4 hot cam and his dyno graph reads 330hp. This is an M6.

Perry, you get 330 with the LT4 heads alone, 429 with the intake and the hot cam, its all in my Pontiac Enthusiast magazine.

You can't believe what you read in a magazine. My buddy's C4 came with an LT4 from the factory. I believe him, he showed me the proof, had the red LT4 intake, ect. Stock LT4's dyno a little less than LS1's. Add the Hotcam and 330hp is about right. MTI did the install, tuning, and dyno. Get an LS1.

I read what must have been the same article a year or so back in CHP I believe. In the article I read the testing was done on an engine dyno. This measures hp at the crank, not at the rear wheels. My buddy and I installed this kit on his 30th annv. SS. It was strong but nowhere near 429 rwhp.

Hi everyone, new to the board here. Well I can tell you this, that LT4 Conversion Kit will make in the area of 345 hp at the wheels with headers. There was a long debate over this on the CZ28.com bulletin board. That would be sweet if it actually made this power, but it doesnt, and a lot of people seem to think the money is better spent elsewhere....

FYI, the lt4 that camein the vettes and a select few f-bodies is not the same as the lt4 topend swap many people do. The lt4 topend swap is a more agressive setup.

While this may be an "exception to the rule", a good friend of mine recently converted his M6 LT1 to an LT4 with hotcam, headers, etc. and with tuning pulled 384 RWHP. A "freak"? Maybe...but it is possible!

The cam is more aggresive but everything else stays the same.

You answered your own question. The cam is more aggressive. About 350-370 rwhp through an m6 with tuning is par for the topend setup with headers from what I have seen. Depends alot on how the rest of the car is setup.

I pulled 340ish with the LT4 Conversion on stock PE tables. The TQ number was wild b/c of the Yank ST3500 i ran but it propelled my 3400# Z28 to 12.3s.
New set up has TH350, Larger Valves, new RRs, and some other stuff and we hope to see the higher side of 11s with the small HOT cam.
The 400+ quotes are from the crank, my 340 works out to be 420ish thru the A4 at the time. I like it but agree there are larger cams out there that I could dyno higher with. but dynos are unless you are tuning on them....
We'll see what more compression and larger valves will do for me and let it be known.
