wouldnt running a thinner oil give u more hp also. so does that mean that each oil he was using was thinner and thinner going from brand to brand? like royal purple i heard is really thin

yeah a thiiner oil will help the engine move easier, but less oil will stick to rotating parts because it is thinner. This will decrease oil life and engine life if you go too thin. It's a tradeoff.
