Help me choose a cam/heads
The cam specs I've been looking at are in the 221-224 range. My intention is to do stage 2 heads and cam at the same time. I may have to wait a little longer to do it all on one shot but that's how I'd rather do it. My other option was to do a cam first then do the heads but I'm thinking it's probably cheaper to do it all in shot.

I like doing it all in one shot as it tends to cost less over all and one gets the same results!
As for the gears, for a M6, here's my .02
3.73's are nice on the street but don't feel much different than 3.42's.
4.10's are more fun on the street but will fry the tires with ease. DR's are a good idea if you want traction.
For street 3.73's are better for the track 4.10's
Turning more RPM helps with the bigger the cam too. So I went with 4.10's so my 224 would be fun to drive.

I suggest going with a proven winner such as the MTI stage II heads and HAmmer cam (C1) or better yet the C2, which will put you well into the 11s and give you all the reliability you want. Its a proven dependable set up.

From what I've read I know a B1 will. It's not a major concern but if I can be emissions friendly that would save me some headache. Or, how about this, I work at a dealership and I have friends that are techs that never charge me for inspections. But, are they able to get away with passing a car that fails emissions? If so, then I have no worries. I haven't thought to ask them about this so unless someone here knows for sure I'll have my answer tomorrow @ work

This started in Oct of this year. Going forward cars will not be sniffed but the computer scanned to see if emissions sytems are functioning correctly. If the computer says things are good, then thing are good. Not all counties are doing this yet - but they will. Snifer may be around in counties without emissions issue for a while - it's a phase in as I understand it.
A 224 could pass sniffer on a 114 LSA it would need tuning & probably LS1 edit to tweak it. Might not be too easy to get to pass but some say that they have done so with other sniffer tests. Natually, a cam this big will needed cats etc.
I know a tuned 216/220 114 LSA blew a 77 on the sniffer test and 220 is failing. If sniffer is an issue a 220/220 on a 114 LSA will be easier to get to pass than a 224.
