Also, you might think to Deg. the cam when you install it. I'm sure that is why some people have not seen better gains. All the Thunder cams are checked before they leave. I don't think the GM cams are! Every Cam card I have seen come with the hot cams read exactly the same. I would hate to see you be one of the unlucky ones that only gain 5-15 rwhp.

2K1SS-Are you telling me that the Hooker headers would be better than the Mac headers?

Also, I know I'll be grinning from ear to ear when I get the package.

I'm getting the cam installed at Black Magic Racing, I don't want any prblems to be on my shoulders when something goes wrong. I'll make sure they degree my cam to squeeze out every last horsey. I'm pretty sure they don't need me telling them what to do! I figure they know already.

Thanks guys for all your input!

I had the Hotcam in my 99 T/A with Hooker L/Ts and the offroad y-pipe with a Flowmaster catback and my car dynoed 358hp and 353lb/ft torque. This was with the stock tuning.I replaced this cam with the Thunder Racing Tr224/112lsa cam and got 361hp and 358lb/ft of torque although i think there is more to be had power wise with tuning. The hotcam is a very nice grind for the money.FWIT

george-I'm interested to see how your set-up sounds, then maybe we can race jk. I'll send you an e-mail with my number so we can hook up.

I'll copy your set-up and maybe I can pull 390rwhp. (that would be great!) I have some of the things you have(check my sig) in your car minus the cam, headers, asp pulley, and x-pipe. I know I gotta ways to go but I'll get there. Morgan has a dyno? Aren't they located in Walnut Creek?

I think thye Mac's will give you better midrange Tq but suffer on the top end over the long tubes. As far as The hookers being better than the Mac's,....Well it would depend on your intentions.

More Tq in the midrange will help you light to light and around town.

But HP will prevail at the track.

That decision is up to you.

Tell Dave,
Mike Hall said what's up for me!

Dont know if this topic is to old for yall to see. But another HAPPY hotcam user here. I dyno over 370 at the wheels with stock heads and my hotcam, can run 11's in the 1/4 N/A! (I say CAN because i never have i have only ran at our local 1000' track and ran high 9's in the 1000' @106MPH wich is easy 11's in the 1/4)
I am pulling this cam out though, just because the heads are alomost ready for install and want to go bigger with the heads. But i have NO regrets in buying this hotcam. I have outran others with bigger cams (224, c1) with basically identical mods except i have macs and they had true long tubes. Most of that was due to driving imo not that i make more power.

If you are going to doit yourselfe make sure you have all the tools (250lbs Tq wrench, valve spring compresor, air hold tool etc.) and give yourself a few hoursd to play with. mu goal was to be back on the road by 9pm and it was 11-11:30 I think when we were done! Around 12 hours, If you have two people from start to finnish you could probaly get it in 7-8 hours with some BSing along the way. Or contact Synergy motorsports or Black Magic Racing, They do alot of work with the "Hot" cam and know them verry well.

Good luck. If you are ever in Sac let me know and maybe you can take a listen.
will this hot cam be any good on a lq9 (370") 11.2:1 compression?

Did someone say hot cam?
Cmon you know id see this thread sooner or later.

Newer lobes will help gain quite a bit vs older designs. We believe we improved on the orig GM hot cam design last year with our High Lift Hot Cam. For less than the GMPP price for their hot cam kit ($562 normally) you get our brand new High Lift Hot Cam and Pac1218 valve springs for $515.

Zombie thread with broken link in first post. The only thing that would make this better? Mike Nice, Chuck Testa and some broken photobucket pics or some old school imageshack!

The fact that the OP was camming and modding a brand new 4th gen is kinda cool since it's been so long since that was possible.

I knew ws6store was gonna pop in.

The last time the OP posted was in 2009. Whenever I check stuff like that I get sad. Where did he go? Why did he leave? Is he dead? I spend most of my work day on here, every memeber that doesn't come back takes a tiny piece out of me.
