Default "Hot" cam is in!

Saturday I put the hot cam in finaly! After 12 hours including dinner and BSing with those who stoped by, it fired right up. with no MAF-T or Drilling of the TB. I went ahead and put the MAF-T on to get my Ltims down and after the first test drive. I had to go 2 on the base and 2 wot. any leaner and I would get a lean pop. The first test drive was impressive to say the least! NosBoyss was with me and he is now looking to put one in also!

Now I am going to do some tunning and add the 100 shot and a new fuel pump! Looks like it wont be long before I will be looking at 12 bolts!

What's a MAF-T? Does that tune the cars computer automatically after a cam swap?

It let's you set the base setting and wot setting on fuel seperatally.Say if you were lean on base(idle)you could richen it up and vise versa on wot.Hope this helps.

Correct, the MAF-T lets you minipulate the MAF to try and correct your Base and WOT AF. I will be doing some testing to see how far off the the AF is with out it. At first with no MAF-T I was @ +15% at idle and 6%@ partial throttle. I did not do a WOT before I put the MAF-t on. I will be doing that in the next few days. I am also going to setsomething up with Synergy Motorsports to get it on the Dyno and tinker that way. I'll keep you updated. If you have any questions feel free to email me.

I'm more than happy with the results the Hotcam coupled with FLP's gave me (60+hp). Used MAFT and Atap to tune mine as I was running way rich (more the fault of the headers than cam no doubt). Idles and runs just fine .

I just want to get an idea how they differ from car to car and mods to mods.

Thanks

Well the car ran WAY rich at WOT after the cam/headers so my settings now are at +5% on base (gives me slight negative ltrims in part throttle driving) and -10% on WOT giving me 02's in the .890 range.

OMG...I'm going to be spending some good money on my upgrade. I might as well install my own cam and save money. Need to find a good tuner!! I have most of the parts, I'm just waiting on the cam!

I was going to go with a Hotcam but was told a Comp cam would be the best for me and my applications.

Hotcam definately gets my thumbs up! Combine it with a set of FLP's and the car becomes a totally different animal. Ran a 12.73@113 with my new setup and my 02's were pretty up there, around consistant 920's. Thanks to Billws6formulas tuning help I hope to improve on that next year, the car was running 890s after the install of whisper maf ends and some tweaking.
Go get one, you won't be dissapointed!
