Default Stock head porting??

Anyone you guys can recommend for porting stock heads?

I have a TR224 cam in right now but I would like a solid 11.5 car at around 120MPH. I cant really afford aftermarket heads so I am lookin at porting the stock ones.

Any suggestions or advice?

Later, Stu

There aren't any actual aftermarket heads. They are all ported stock heads right now. MTI and GTP are good choices from what I've seen.

Gotcha Dope....I guess I didnt state that quite right.

I meant just porting my stock heads and using the same valves. I already have 918's for springs.
I just cant go and dump 2200 on a new set of heads.

Ask Vince about stock ported heads and stock valves, he made 415 RWHP with a 5.7 head CNC ported by TEA that was hand blended by Brandon Aders, I believe total cost was $1150 without the springs, that includes disassembly, hot tank, bead blast, CNC, milling, hand blending, flowing, assembly and seals. You could skip the flow and save $50, that would be half of the $2200 you spoke of?

Just go up 95 a little bit to JPR, Joe does some awesome work and the 224 Thunder cam is his favorite

You can get your heads ported by a number of companies that advertize right here on LS1Tech.

Do yourself one favor though:

DON'T take your heads to the local "Speed Shop / Machine Shop" that specializes in small block Chevy heads and have then put a die grinder to them. You will be very unhappy in the end.

You may want to talk to Total Engine Airflow (TEA) -- (a sponsor here). They do LS1 heads extremely well and for a very reasonable price. Bottom line: You want [Quality and Provin] work at a Fair Price. There is no other part of the equation....

Good Luck,
Ron

Thanks for the inputs guys. I was thinking of JPR Bob, you must have ESP...N

I'll give TEA and JPR a call on Mon.

Thanks again fellas...Stu
