ordered a TR 224/224 .561/.561 114 LSA and opted not to get the titanium retainers. Was this a wise decision or should I get them before I install the cam?

They are cool thing to say you have <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> . And they are lighter than the stock retainers but not significantly. If you were building a motor out of a 70 camaro they would offer substantial weight savings (as far as driveline is concerned) but the beehive springs taper to a rather small retainer. If you ever step up to a non-fatory style spring and are forced to buy retainers by all means buy titanium, but for the comp 26918's on stock heads, the stock retainers work great.
