Question: with a cam that mild are titanium retainers really necessary?????
See, I dont do just the "bling"
No, they are not necessary, but I have the set from my TA if you're interested.

How much Eric??
That TR GP was great, I picked up a TR 224 with 918's and pushrods.

Steve, your car will do great with the TR220 cam. It's a very well mannered cam thats makes gobs of power everywhere. You should easily make 380-390 rwhp with it judging from your current #'s. We just did a local car that made 394 rwhp w/ that cam and stock heads. Good luck!

I think you'll save like 1 gram of weight with titanium retainers and the 918's. I don't think you'll be spinning a TR-220 cam'd car high enough to get any real benefit. If you were going above 6,800 rpm then yes.
Not worth it IMHO for your application.
Nice cam I almost picked that cam too!

Steve, who is doing the install for you. I live in So Cal too (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) and was going to think about getting the very same cam. I just need to find a reputable shop. I heard Andy's Auto in Monrovia is very good. What do you think?

Andy's Auto rocks.. Mark there is very nice and knowledgeble.. AND his prices cant be beat.. the shop isnt much to look at but who cares as long he does great work.. -- Tell him I reccomended him to you
I would be happy to be over 380rwhp with the cam.. very happy indeed.. A local guy (Ireland31) just made 380rwhp with an 02 LS6 cam (with tuning) so I think I should be in that range..
Yea, I agree on the retainers.. sorta of a waste but nice to have.. I might get them if Eric has a good price on his slightly used ones..
Thanks for the comments..
I was aksing $110 for the titanium retainers. And my car did 352 RWHP without tuning with the '02 LS6 cam, through the A4, stock manifolds and cats, etc. You should make lots of power with that TR 220 cam. I loved the TR 224 I had in the TA. Send me an email if you're interested in those retainers. Eireland31@aol.com
Does Mark at Andy's Auto do tuning as well? I know I'm running rich from the SLP LT's I just put on and if I am able to swing the cam and all I will for sure want it tuned correctly for the best results. If he doesn't do you know of anyone else that can tune well? I just don't have the $$ for a laptop, MAFT, and Auto tap right now.
