Default switched from 918s to REV-1116 springs

had a problem with power loss above 6400 rpm, and when shifting in to the next gear out of the lost power zone, the car would bog horribly. suspected the springs were fatigued, so we switched to the REV dual springs, car now has its power back, and rips likes it used too the 918s only had 900 miles on them, they just can't handle this cam(TR230/224). well see how the REVs hold up I think they will be good. anyone else done this?(switched)

Out of curiosity, did you have titanium retainers on the 918s? I've heard reports of valve float at higher rpms while using the stock retainers.

I am curious if you had Titanium retainers also.

I was running the TR230/224 cam with the Comp 918s and Titanium retainers and the car makes great power to the 7000 revlimiter.

yep we had titanium ones, bought it all from thunder. jason, would you like me to send you a spring for testing? I am thinking of taking one to a machine shop to get some specs on spring pressure, I can compress these things about a 1/4 of a inch by hand....

If you can compress a 918 1/4" by hand they are SERIOUSLY weak!

I got my REV Double Springs from Thunder also, the Retainers are TI, and Locators(seats/bases) are steal.

I am very happy with both REV and Thunders Customer service.

I just took my 918s off my car that had close t0 8k miles and I'll test one of those too.

Just ship it to Thunder ATTN: Jason.

I have a set of brand new 918's in my hands right now. I can also compress them about 1/4 inch by hand, so it can't be a symptom of fatigue. Maybe I'm just really strong?? I bet its the smaller end of the conical spring thats moving.

Ill try to get one tested, and one in the mail, if they are faulty can I get a new set? my GTP needs a cam...... hehe
