Default 6.0L Stroker Questions

I see that a LOT of people are running larger-than-stock displacments in their F-bodys. I am in the process of acquiring a 6.0L motor for my 01 Sierra, and thought that since I have the luxury of working on the motor with it out of the truck, I'd do at least a cam swap...

Well, now I'm looking into possibly increasing the displacement a bit. Are there any relatively cheap alternatives, or is this really not an option for a budget buildup? Just thought I'd check before I started saving up the moolah for the buildup.

Thanks guys!

That depends on how far you want to go with it. Heads and cam could put you well over 400hp and we could setup a stroker kit for 400+CID for about $3000 and with good heads and cam could make close to 500hp.What do you want to do with it?

Well, this motor is a really bad "slapper" (was warrantied out by GM) so I thought that I might need to go through the motor and freshen it up. Thought that while I was in there, if there were a decently-priced stroker kit, then I could do that instead of replacing the slugs with factory pieces. I'm sure that the crank is in good shape.

I just priced pistons and conn rods at over $1300, so I thought that a stroker might be an option if it's not too much more money.

I'm really not looking to make a beast outta this thing, just something with great low-end torque and making some decent HP. I'd like to get the truck into the low 13's all motor.

I have been thinking about the same thing. If this was a slapper motor, then the cylinder walls will probably need a little work. My thoughts are having the cylinders overbored by .030 and using the stock crank and rods then replacing the rod bolts with ARP stuff. Diamond pistons said they will have forged flat top pistons with wrist pins in the 4.030 size for $570.

That combo would be a 370 CI motor with a compression of near 10.3:1 I think.

We can put together a stroker kit with rods and pistons for about $3200 and we use Diamond pistons <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" /> . That combo with a good TQ cam and some tuning would make that truck rock.
