Question How do I measure for push rod length?

I'm doing a head/cam swap in a couple of months and after doing some research found that I need new pushrods. Heres the problem. I don't know how to measure pushrods correctlly. Dose anyone know of a web site that has the procedure or can explain to me in detail how to do it?

Thanks

You first have to buy a pushrod checker tool, Thunder Racing sells them for $20. It is pretty much juts an adjustable length 2 piece pushrod, each spin on it adds another .050 of length.

What you do is hand tighen the rocker arm bolt and put the checker in just like you do with a pushrod. Then you spin the rod until it wont spin(count how many turns it makes), you are then at zero lash. Now take the number of turns you made an multiply that number by .050 and add it to the collapsed length(6.8). then add recommended lifter preload(.075 on stock lifters). Then you have your required pushrod length. Heres an example.

Collapsed checker length-6.8
+
10 Turns @ .050 per turn- .5
+
Stock lifter preload- .075

Final length=7.375

Thanks for the help. I knew that it would be something simple but I had no idea that it was that simple.

Thanks

Correct, TDC on the compression stroke is where to do it, both lifters are on the base at this point.
