Part Number MAN25751

-------------------------------------------------
2. LS6 CNC Ported Assembled Aluminum Cylinder Heads
$985.00 $1,970.00
Part Number 88958622
-------------------------------------------------
3. LS6 2002 Z06, 204/218 Duration @ 0.050. Hydraulic Roller Camshaft
$185.00 $185.00
Part Number 12565308

-------------------------------------------------

This gives me $1,250 left in my budget. I still need get the following --

1- head bolts (still can't figure out the GM part # prob, 98-01 & 02-04 head gaskets have diff part #s)
2- gaskets

Still piddling around with a few other things. Hopefully I'll be ready to install in early Jan.

When bolting on a set of stock 02 LS6 heads/cam onto an 02 LS1 motor, is tuning necessary for the small compression change?

My guess is no, it will run just fine with the stock tuning. However, at the least I will need to raise the rev limiter, and tunning will most definately help take full advantage of everything.

I have a similar project going and think you will miss out on ~20hp by going with the stock cam. You could even do a GM Hotcam and use stock valve springs. The stock 02 Z cam is 204/218-550/117.5. There are lots of very mild cams that will give you more as long as you are "in there"

I have not seen good selection of cams with a max lift under .56. The assembled heads max is 5.61. You may have noticed that flow drops after .525 on the assembled cnc ls6 heads.

Thanks

I would swap the springs and use the TR / Patrick G "old man cam". Very emssions friendly. About as much under the curve lift as a 230 but idles like stock and will pass emissions.

Its specs are 214/220, .600/.527, 115 LSA, -2 degrees ground in.

Should be 400+ RWHP

I am using a Lunati 221-221/558-558/114 with heavy springs and retainers. Absolute Speed ported LS6 heads for that cam. Not in yet but will be all LS6 without headers and hoping for ~ 380+ RWHP.
