Hi guy's
I am confused,
I had read that the cranks in the 2001 and newer
6.0 LS1's are the same as the cranks in the 5.7 LS1.
I checked at the GM dealer and the part #'s are different.
Can anybody assure me 110% that the crank in a 2001
6.0L engine is the same as the crank in a 5.7L from a
f-body?? Will the flywheel bolt up without
any problems?
I have the chance to by a 6.0L shortblock
but if the crank is different it doesn't make sense.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

the 5.7 and 6.0 have the same stroke<3.622> and the same rod length<6.098>, however i dont know if they use a different crankshaft. i dont see any reason why they would. i know that the crank from a 1999 6.0 is toatally different than all of the ls1 based engines, but was changed for 2000.

The balancing will diff. as well as the rear flange where the flywheel bolts on; same bolt pattern but spaced back about 1 inch more on the 6.0 crank!!
