ls1 head gaskets $17 each!!!!!!

just to let other members know. detroit gasket makes head gaskets for the ls1 and i just ordered a set from my machine shop. they were $17 each and the head bolt kit was $17 per side hope this helps some folks out. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

That is a great price. We also have the GM gasket for only $24.15 for the pair. GM Performance Parts LS1/LS6 Head Gaskets

Other vendors show 1997-2000 are the same and 2001-2002 are the same. Please advise.

I read that the 99-01 are the same gasket. The head casting numbers are #241 but wasn't the blocks changed mid year to the LS6 block? Wouldn't this make a difference? If the heads are identicle from '99-'03 then the difference has to be the block. If the heads changed in '02 then it would be a different casting number. So if I have #241 heads and LS6 block, wouldn't I need the newer style head gaskets???
