Valve to piston clearance on MMS 224 and other notes…
The cam is from Comp Cams, no surprise, and here are the specs:
Grind # LS1 3314R / 3314R HR 114+4
IO 2 BTDC
IC 42 ATDC
EO 50 BBDC
EC 6 ATDC
Installed on 110 Intake C/L
Duration @.050: 224 I / 224 E
Lobe Lift: .335 I / .335 E
Lobe separation: 114 LSA
Piston to valve clearances
Intake vale clearance: .084
Exhaust valve clearance: .111
Note: LS6 heads by CNC / 62 cc (milled .020)
My 5.3 heads were milled at least .015 to .020
My 224 XE-R has .075 P to V on intake
I've seen my 224 XE-R spec's overlayed with the MMS224 spec's from a cam doctor, the XE-R was a hair more aggressive.
Can anyone recommend a website with a detailed write-up that explains in detail what all the different #s mean regarding cams (lift, duration, etc)? I'm a bit ignorant in that area. Thanks.

Check out Comp Cams website
