Default 5.3 or 5.7 heads?

I currently am running all the bolt-ons w/ a TR224/114. I also run a 75-100 shot of gas at the track. Which way should I go and what milling is required. I do use TR6's gapped at .035. My current NA max timing is set at 31 deg and on the gas it drops to around 28 deg (dry system). No KR.
Thanks for any advice on this decision.
Oh yeah....Have a Merry Christmas all.
Randy

LS6 or 6.0 heads would be very nice.

The 5.3's work great and tend have a little more compression all things being equal than the 5.7's do.

MTI, GTP, LPE and TEA all have excellent heads.

JPR, RGR, and Absolute seem to do very well too.

For my car I went with TEA 5.3 Stage II's and I think they are an excellent value and give great results.

See sig.

They are going to be the same except for the chamber size. The 5.3's will give you a bit more compression than the 5.7's. I would just do 5.7's milled .030 or 5.3's unmilled. If you have to have the extra little bit of compressin then do 5.3's and mill them.

If you stay with nitrous though i not sure you would want to go with 5.3L heads, right? I really don't know but I am about to have my 5.3's done here very soon

That is what I am wondering....I do plan to run nitrous in the future (small dry shot dialed in seems extremely safe) I am wanting 500 rwhp and feel I will be close w/the combo h/c w/ nitrous. What kinda hp diff. w/ 5.3 vs. 5.7 heads? Higher compression w/ the right timing and spark quality should be safe...but is it worth the worry or effort?
BTW, Mark, my bro is acting like he is having a baby or something The setup you are installing is awesome!!!!
THANK GOD FOR RAGING MOTORSPORTS!!!!!

Go with the 5.3 heads. The extra compression will add more horsepower so why not get a little more power over the 5.3 for the same amount of money. Nitrous wont be a problem especially a small shot. Only becomes a problem when you try forced induction.

The compression with the 5.3 heads is 10.8 to 1. With the 5.7 heads its 10 to 1. Each full point of compression is worth i believe something like 20 HP. 10.8 compression is nothing to worry about. High 11s to 1 compression is when you have to worry about detenation. Dont worry and spray it. What if you make 489 HP with the 5.7 heads. You will be kicking yourself you missed out on 500 because you didnt go with 5.3 heads.

I would stick with the 5.7's also. You might see some knock retard on the spray with the 5.3's. With a good set of heads you'll be well over the 400RWHP anyway so the 500 mark will be easy met on the spray.
