Default Cam Position High AND Low Codes

So after the 427 went out one too many times and the builder wouldn't back their work I stuck a stock rebuilt LS1 in my car. After we got everything buttoned up the car doesn't start well, the tach doesn't work, and it is throwing camshaft position codes. It is throwing cam position high and low codes (P0342 & P0343).
I am hoping the cam was torqued down and loc-tited good, and that it didn't walk in the block.
We noticed that the 98 Camshaft Position Sensor is a different part number than the other years, could my PCM be expecting signal from a 00 sensor and getting a signal with different amplitude or something from a 98 sensor?
Or maybe it is just a bad sensor?
Any help is appreciated!!
Thanks, Justin

Also, I reset the codes one time and they came back on immediately. The second time it took ~15 miles before the SES light came back.
