Default 140+ oil pressure

Hey Guys, What would cause my oil pressure to hit 140psi at high Rpm's. I am running the LS4 pump but nobody else has reported seeing these high oil pressures. Most of the concern is the higher volume sucking the pan dry. Higher volume would have to make higher pressure through a set system restriction. At least that's how it seems to me. Also, there is a spring set at 42psi in these pumps. Isn't that supposed to regulate the pressure. This makes no sense.

Are you sure your sender and gauge are working correctly ? I would think the spring/valve would keep the pressure at a much lower regulated pressure, and not let it get to 140+psi !?

It is brand new and should be fine. I plan on double checking it. I also have the factory gauge hooked up as well. It reads about the same at idle. I have not watched both when under acceleration.

Need some help troubleshooting this. We plan to pull the LS4 pump but want to make sure that it's not something else. Is there a way to check for blockages in the oiling system. I would hate like hell to go through all the trouble of swapping oil pumps to end up with the same problem.

High pressure = restriction and reduced volume. I'd say the sensor is off. Use a mechanical gauge to test. Then start looking for blockages.

turned out to be the pump. I bought a stock z06 pump and pressures are 35-40 idle and no more than 75 at WOT. I still have valve float though. I think the springs need to be replaced. They are crane duals(144832's I believe) and were used with the heads. I am not sure they are up to the task. I am going to have them replaced.
