Default Max LS6 head flow numbers

Tried a search.

What kind of flow numbers are most people getting out of LS6 heads hand ported by GOOD porters? Including big valves and all.

Not to highjack the thread, just to save from another, when you have a set of heads ported; will it disrupt the port job to have larger valves put in afterwards?

Putting in a much larger valve afterwards even on a hand ported head may show little difference. The valvejob is cut first then the head is ported. The bowl diameter corresponds to VJ diameter.

FWIW, TSP with a 237cc intake runner was getting 310-315ish out of a 2.00" valve. About the most flow you'd see with a 2.02" valve is around 350cfm regardless of port shape, design, architecture, etc.

Keep in mind a 2.100" valved, 360 cfm, LS6 port would have a VERY limited application.

Well I read that SAM got 380 out of a set but I don't know that lift thats at.

I know a local guy that ports some SICK heads. Does pro stock and pro stock bike heads along with a ton of side stuff for the locals.

The machine shop I am using builds nothing but SICK power SBC's and BBC's and can't keep up wih the work lol.

Just looking at what you can get out of factory casting heads.

The problem I have with a lot of the sponsors from what I have been told is that if you call any of them they will all say they flow more or make more power then the next.

The guy I am buying my 408 from has been talking to me about buying his tweaked AFR 225's and him going with ET's or something with his 427 that he is building.
I have thought about buying them and having one of the two people above look at them and see if they can be tweaked anymore.

On a 645 lift or less cam and a ported FAST intake on those heads it made 547 I think it was RWHP threw a 6 speed and 12 bolt or 9 inch.
I would go with a single plain and more agressive cam like he was (Patrick G recomended it with speed density) untill he went 427.

Looking for AT LEAST the same amount of power to the wheels threw a Neil Chance, TH-400, 9 inch.

I could get these heads for a little under 2 grand shipped. I am really thinking about it.
