Questions for those who have High Mileage Cars
Who out there has a Trans Am or Camaro with over (or well over) 120,000 miles on the original LS1 engine and is pushing 400 or more Horses. Those who do, what, if any, problems have you experienced? I have a 2000 TA with 148000 miles and will be doing a Head and Cam swap. So I'm just trying to get an idea of any precautions. I will also be replacing the Lifters, Oil Pump, Timing Chain, and M6 Tranny. I've never had an engine problem since owning the car, knock on wood.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will look into the injectors and fuel filter. Curious however, would I be safe with just replacing the stock gears or is it necessary to replace the whole rearend? I don't have a lot of money (as with everyone else) so if putting 3.73 or 4.10 gears in the stock 10 bolt will get me by, I would prefer to do that for now.
But, I'm still curious as to how many people out there have LS1's with high mileage and lots of power and no to little problems.

Hi, I have a 2001 Trans Am with about 165,000 miles. I have stage II Heads and a TNT Nitrous setup. No problems here, it still holds great compression and just make sure you always change its oil on time and try to take care of it as much as you can. I have only needed to change the Fuel Pump. Other than that running like a champ.

Sweet, that makes me feel a little better, 165000 miles and your car is still running like a champ. Hopefully, mine will too since I haven't had any engine problems since owning it!

the rear end can last as long as you are somewhat easy on it. If you have a auto it should last a bit longer as a 6spd will hit the rear a bit harder.
I broke my rear when it was stock, but I was very mean to it. I know a guy down here that makes good power 6spd and races when he can and his 10 bolt is holding up at 180,xxx miles.

Gentlemen, sorry for the delay in responding. I have the stock ten bolt rear end. I have been spraying for about a year. As stated previously, I havent had any problems and speaking of I need to change the oil. Also I am not sure if it makes any difference but they are all highway miles. I go to a university twice a week and the round trip is about 300 miles. So thats how I have racked up that many miles.
