Default MS4 Guys

I keep hearing people say it will clear without flycutting but it is not safe. I am curious how many people are running this without flycutting and how many have cut and your results. And anybody that is also running the PRC LS6 heads form TSP chime in also. I plan on running this cam with those heads in a 1998 TA and don't plan on flycutting so tell me why I am right or wrong.

to be on the safe side, I would flycut, it is like extra insurance, I have stage 3 LS6 heads, if you are running the stock bottom end you can run stage 1.5 LS6 heads on a 111lsa and be fine, but it is close, but I have a forged motor with reliefs in the pistons that is the only reason I didn't have to flycut, I aslo have mine on a 110lsa, custom grind MS4, they sell the whole package from TSp that would be the best bet for you if you want both heads and cam. This is just my $.02 though.

since you got the whole package from them you do not have to flycut, but you can if you want to, kind of like extra insurance if you miss a shift or something small like that.

-=Modified=- will be out of the area for a couple weeks, unless he chimes in from up at Kurtland (I believe)...

We did not cut the pistons on his car. he's running the TSP H/C combo, w/ the LS6 style heads, not milled and .04something HG w/ 7.350 PR's. 112lsa, also.

I think I'm just worrying too much. I haven't heard of any problems so I guess that is good news.

It IS a huge cam. If you want extra insurance, get the thicker HG... .056" I think..

.056 I think.. Correct me if I'm wrong. I think GM offers different thicknesses.

I have the stock GM gaskets so I think I am OK without cutting. Only one way to find out I guess.

# on gaskets is 12498543

so whatever thickness those would be

Nobody is giving the important info that matters:

How high are you spinning the engine on that setup?
and
How many times have you over-revved the engine?

I'm thinking I'm going to set the limiter at 6700
I don't think I have ever really over-revved it. If so not many

I will probably spin it up to 7000 when I get new rod bolts

That's what the clearance is about. An overrev is likely if you race, especially a 6-speed. That's when the clearance matters... a free-spinning motor at more RPMs than we planned on.
