Default MS4 Guys

I keep hearing people say it will clear without flycutting but it is not safe. I am curious how many people are running this without flycutting and how many have cut and your results. And anybody that is also running the PRC LS6 heads form TSP chime in also. I plan on running this cam with those heads in a 1998 TA and don't plan on flycutting so tell me why I am right or wrong.

to be on the safe side, I would flycut, it is like extra insurance, I have stage 3 LS6 heads, if you are running the stock bottom end you can run stage 1.5 LS6 heads on a 111lsa and be fine, but it is close, but I have a forged motor with reliefs in the pistons that is the only reason I didn't have to flycut, I aslo have mine on a 110lsa, custom grind MS4, they sell the whole package from TSp that would be the best bet for you if you want both heads and cam. This is just my $.02 though.

I have the whole package from TSP with the MS4 on a 111 and stage 1 LS6 heads. just trying to decide if I need to flycut. Stock bottom end too. Thanks

since you got the whole package from them you do not have to flycut, but you can if you want to, kind of like extra insurance if you miss a shift or something small like that.

i had my ls6 heads milled .010, but i used a .053 head gasket. i have no idea what the PTV clearance is, its gotta be pretty close, but the car turned over just fine.

I have a 110 LSA with stock 98 heads and gasket.

Ive had no issues but im going to flycut till the motor is forged. Just to be safe

I'm pretty sure you are supposed to flycut with the 110 aren't you

-=Modified=- will be out of the area for a couple weeks, unless he chimes in from up at Kurtland (I believe)...

We did not cut the pistons on his car. he's running the TSP H/C combo, w/ the LS6 style heads, not milled and .04something HG w/ 7.350 PR's. 112lsa, also.

I think I'm just worrying too much. I haven't heard of any problems so I guess that is good news.

It IS a huge cam. If you want extra insurance, get the thicker HG... .056" I think..

im runnin basically ms4 and didnt have to flycut anything...ran em on stock ls6 heads at 111lsa no prob....amazing cam btw....but LET IT BREATHE...put 410 to the wheels on a stock 2002 zo6 nuthin else....went ahead and put in fast 90/90...with tune got 33rwhP!!!!

.056 I think.. Correct me if I'm wrong. I think GM offers different thicknesses.

I have the stock GM gaskets so I think I am OK without cutting. Only one way to find out I guess.

# on gaskets is 12498543

so whatever thickness those would be

Nobody is giving the important info that matters:

How high are you spinning the engine on that setup?
and
How many times have you over-revved the engine?

I'm thinking I'm going to set the limiter at 6700
I don't think I have ever really over-revved it. If so not many

I will probably spin it up to 7000 when I get new rod bolts

That's what the clearance is about. An overrev is likely if you race, especially a 6-speed. That's when the clearance matters... a free-spinning motor at more RPMs than we planned on.
