At 14 miles to the gallon and traveling 24 miles a day you are using less then 2 gallons for that distance a day. Figure if you are using 2 gallons a day for 31 days that is 62 gallons. $3.27/gallonx62= $202.74 but, you are using less then 2 gallons a day. so your gas bill should have been under $200.00 even with 4:10's. I'm calling B.S. unless you are giving us bad info and getting worse gas mileage then what you are telling us. I have 4:10's in my car and it gets better gas mileage then that, you can drive in town in 5th gear doing about 35 or 40.

Im paying 3.49 a gallon. I do have to agree I love driving my ws6 but, I have a shitty little honda that gets 40mpg. I dont want to drive it let alone be seen in it but, am kind of forced to due to gas prices.

Well I know for a fact I drive about 24miles a day m-F but I have no idea on the weekends. I must be driving a ton more on the weekends.

My biggest concern that makes me not want to keep the car is being unable to sell it in a year or two win gas price are above 4.00 a gallon.

Hell yea. Unless your tune just sucks ***. I got a buddy who is a member on here runnin a 632rwhp Procharged T/A & he gets better gas mileage than that.

Either you run it WOT all the time or something ain't right with either your fuel system or tune. Your mileage with that small cam should have stayed around stock. I have even heard of people pickin up mileage from a small cam & good tune.

hmm,, i daily drive my 2000 Z28.. tons of mod's, heads, cam stall, i drive @ least 175 miles per day... NO BS...!

If i drive it sensibly i can get 300 miles out of a tank of gas... 20-21 mpg. in a stalled A4.. Gas here is $2.90 per gallon..

My other vehicle is a Lincoln navigator... You don't want to know what it gets...

I need a beater...

Thats the thing I used to think the same way that I should be getting 20/26 highway but I don't think I do because my Eclipse gets 23/26. If that was the case then driving the Eclipse would not save me that much money but it does. It is like half the price to drive the eclipse.

Here's what most people forget: Total cost of ownership.

If your SS is paid for, then $300 gas bill and $0 payment makes more sense than a $150 gas bill on a Honda Civic and a $400 a month car payment (new car assuming $0 down).

If you're still making payments on the SS, consider this:
Try trading it in on an economical car, they'll probably pay you less than the SS is worth (especially with sky high fuel prices). If you roll that negative equity into your new car payment, you'll probably have a higher payment than you had on your SS. Sadly, you may trade lower fuel bills for a higher payment. The net effect is you're still paying about the same total per month and you'll be driving an econobox.

Something to think about.

you need to change your driving habits. hell I know thats not easy with all that power but, consider what Patrick G said. I have a H/C WS6 M6, gas prices dont worry me cause I'm living life every day as I choose...life does not end cause of gas prices going up. unless you let it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so go get your econo-car and you will envy all f-bodies as they rumble pass you.

Guys, I am thinking of the Future of when gas is 4.00 bucks.. You all do know that these cars are going to die out in the next 10 years right?

You must be listening to much doom and gloom talk radio. They said the same things in the 70s. Everyone who sold their Hemi Cudas and big block Chevelles to buy Pintos and Vegas were kicking themselves in the *** a few years down the road. Don't make the same mistake.

Yeah, but we really do only have a limited supply of oil and we are reaching that.

Crotch-rockets get 50+ MPG.

Just an FYI

They said that in the 70s too. Like I said, you're listening to too much doom and gloom. Sure the world demand for oil is increasing (thanks to China), but there are new fields discovered every year. The big rise you're feeling right now is because the futures traders are jacking up the prices based off of short-term events...not long-term demise of supply. Turn off the tube and click off the radio. If you weren't around in the 70s, just look at what happened after Katrina. Gas went close to $4.00. The news was telling us that gas would never fall below $2.00 a gallon again...EVER!. LOL, I paid $1.75 for gas this past December. Glad I held on to my F-body.

Hey, it's your ride...I'm just trying to put these short term gas hikes in perspective.

oh, give me a feaking break there is PLENTY of oil left in the world.

when I had a 383 in my camaro with an M6 I got up to 27mpg on the highway and close to 20 in the city. there is no reason you shouldn't be able to get similar gas mileage unless your tune is terrible. also, STAY OUT of the gas pedal if your so worried about it.

something is seriosly wrong with your car if your getting that bad of gas mileage from just the mods you have listed.I have pretty much the same mods on my car minus the cam and drive 38 miles a day and it doesnt cost me 300 a month for gas.Either your doing alot more driving then you say in your first post or maybe you need to have your tune looked at.

your tune must be way off,
y not look into a lil' cavalier with the ecotec,
and keep the SS for the weekends or really nice days.

Quick Reply: I think it is time to sell my SS Camaro 300 gas bill.
