main bearing clearance
Hey all, i just plastiguaged my crank to bearings and have come up with the following measurements:
1 = .002
2 = .0015
3 = .001
4 = .0015
5 = .002
These are clevite bearings in an 2003 ls6 block with a stock crankshaft. someone told me those numbers should be more closer together.

First of all do not bet the farm on plastigage...it gives you an idea but you need someone who knows what they are doing to check the crank and bearings with a micrometer. Your clearances look ok to me. With the ls aluminum block you do not want over .002 main clearance or you will have oil pressure problems...remember the aluminum block expands with heat so you will gain clearance with engine at operating temp.
