looks like some kind of surface rust/discoloration. is the journal still smooth, or does your finger catch on the marks?

Mine looked like that before installed. No problems after removal @ 10,000 miles.

clean with mineral spirits and let sit for awhile till dry, you can blow dry it if you got a compressor. then oil it real good before installing. from pics it doesn't seem like pitted corrosion but, check with finger nail if it catches I wouldn't install cause then it will eat up cam sleeve bearings and you dont want that. you could take it to a machine shop and have them look at it for you... .02

Default Cam Clean-up

Spray a piece of wet/dry 1000 or 1500 grit paper with WD40 and wrap it around the affected journal (or you can do it to all of them). Sand it in the direction of rotation until it's smooth to the touch then clean it thoroughly.

After cleaning, it should be almost chrome-like in appearance. Spray it with WD40 and wrap it in wax paper until you're ready to use it.

Ok Thanks guys. It doesnt seem to catch my nail when I slide it across so I guess I am good to go. It almost looks like it was oil from fingers on there in the shape of finger prints and then it surface rust.

I sprayed some wd40 on it and wiped it down. Some of it came off. I did not use any sand paper. I will just let the shop take care of it if they need to come thursday. Thanks again
