Looked at the color add that SDPC has, looks like they are pretty new since they state 2007 new product.

Bump

Would springs be needed for 1.8's on a stock Ls2, and if so, which one's? (the comp918 seem to be hexed)
TIA

Just installed a set of 1.8 Scorpions on a 4.8L Sierra. The 1.8s add approx. 0.030". $379 plus shipping from SDPC. Non-adjustable. No guide plates required which means you don't have to buy hardened pushrods. The OEM rocker bolts are reused. They use the "U" channel as was mentioned to keep the rockers in alignment in pairs. Very good quality. Large trunion bearing and roller tip. Made in Florida. You can't go wrong with Scorpions.

so they are truely direct bolt on? while on the topic of rockers, how do the ls7 replacement rockers compare to various aftermarket rockers?

They don't provide the correct valve train geometry.

i just ordered a set of 1.7 rockers for my 383 lunati forged ls6, and my etp 245 heads. Jesel and T&D make a specific rocker for these heads, unfortunately, very expensive, and on backorder, so Luke at scorpion was very helpful, and said if they dont work, that i can ship them back. I was half tempted to go to the 1.8 rockers, but i didnt want to push my luck quite yet. These rockers have a lifetime warranty, so i figure, if the 1.7's work, i might go up to 1.8's one day instead of changing my cam. My cam is a 224/227 .563/.569 114 LSA thunder racing cam. Im running a lot of boost and just upgraded to an f1r from a d1sc. (i was running stock ported ls1 heads and 18 springs, and creating 17lbs of boost by 6500rpm, not sure where these etps and the f1r will take me quite yet) ETP sells a rocker arm stand for adaption of the stock rockers, bc etp heads are formatted differently with extra holes for serious strength rockers, so i am curious to see how these "ford shims" work out. Guys at ETP say thay have used scorpions once by customer request, and so far, have had no complaints from that customer. I guess the back wall of the head might come dangerously close to the back of the rocker, so some grinding of the back head walls is recomended. Im not taking any advise on pushrod length, were just gonna test it for ourselves, and find out what works best, but the etp recomendation is 8.100 length rods. Like i said, only thing left to try is a longer duration cam, closer to a .600 lift, and-or 1.8 rockers... but we will try this for now and see how it works out. below 400 bucks, vs 1500 for jesel and about 1000 for t&d along with a month wait... and its 70 degrees out in ohio right now

I put them on my car. Loud as a ****!!!!!! Our valve train is loud enough without having aluminum rockers on them. The stock rockers are good for quite a bit of HP and TQ. If you were to go with aftermarket, I would suggest either Comps, or Yellow Terra. Just my 2 cents.

I put on a set. I never got a chance to get it back on a dyno to see the difference but I did take it to the track. I gained almost .3 in a quarter mile just from bolting these on. I also think it quiet down the drivetrain. No sewing machine sound.

real nice! Hopefully the rear of the fulcrum where the pushrod contacts them won't bust up on you... been seeing a lot of that on here lately

I read somewhere that they were re-designing the pushrod side of the rocker to strengthen it, anyone else see that or have any information?

G-Force had a box full of broken ones. I'd probably stick with stock or Comp/Jesel/Harland.

It's a shame, they sure are pretty.....LOL

If their installed right, you shouldn't have any problems.

At PRI they said they were redesigning the back to make them stronger. I have seen a lot of them fail there as well mostly on higher rpm bigger spring pressure deals. The rockers themselves are very nice and have very good geometry as well.
