Default Another Cam Suggestion Thread

I'm planning some serious changes for my set up this season, a cam being one of them. I need a cam that will make the most power possible in the 4,200-7,000 RPM range. I plan to keep the stock bottom end, upgrading rod bolts and possibly bearings. I will be bumping compression into the 11.0-11.5 range but keeping the stock heads. I'm sure I will have to fly cut pistons, but I had planned on that anyway. I'm looking for the best track numbers possible and a wicked *** idle.

The rest of the set up will include:
TH350 with transbrake
Pro Edge converter built for whatever cam I go with
12-bolt with 4.30s
Mickey Thompson 28 x 12.5 ET Streets
The car should weigh right around 3,400-3,450 lbs with me in it.

I like the Trex and MS4, the usual choices for track cams. I also like the numbers people are putting down with LG cams but I wont buy a cam I don't know the specs for.

Hit me with some suggestions!

People have been trying to sell me on a 9 inch forever, and it aint happening. We put too much effort into building my duals and the clearance isn't there for the 9 inch, besides they sound badass! The 12-bolt can handle plenty of power, people only have problems because they're not built right. Plenty of people make them work. I'll be ordering mine from Moser unassembled and doing the set-up myself. I've seen 8.5" 10-bolts handle low 9 second passes like it's nothing, and I know of a couple running in the 8 second range. If the big ten bolts can do it, the 12-bolt should have no problems with my goals.

Of course they're not stock, no rear end will handle that kind of abuse. They've all been built properly for the strip with full spool, hardened axles, etc. They're not time bombs either, they've been running that way for years. Keep in mind I'm talking the 8.5" 10-bolt, not the 7.5". The 8.5" 10-bolt isn't that much smaller than the 12-bolt.

My short term goals are to see how far I can go with a cam only. Long term includes mid-low 9 second passes utilizing a big cube GM LSX block.

Anyway, back to cam suggestions. Anyone have any recommendations?

You definitely are looking for a TREX V2...I have it and all I can say is the rpm range you are looking for is definitely the TREX range.

Thank. That's one more vote for the Trex. Anyone have any other alternatives, custom grinds or off the shelf?

No one has any other suggestions? Everyone on here is all over the daily driver cam threads....but no one knows anything about a track cam other than the "throw a Trex at it" solution I see everywhere???

What's the specs on the hellion cam? I've never heard of flowtech induction.

The crane doesn't sound like a bad option, but I'd prefer it ground on a 110. Any dyno numbers?

Any other suggestions? Custom grinds?
