Default MS4 cam questions

My buddy is puttin a MS4 cam in his bolt-on '00 TA. He ordered the MS4 kit from texas speed so it has everything for it. Got the oil pump and all that. My question is i know texas speed said that cam will clear with no fly cutting but how close will it be? Some say REAL close and others not. Anyone put one of these cams in and measure PTVC? And any tips/comments you can tell us before it goes in? Thanks guys.

Go dot ot dot, and turn it over by hand a few times to verify no problems. Other than that you'l have to pull and head and measure actual clearances.

This has been discussed a million times already. It will clear, but measure your PTV no matter what. If it's closer than you feel comfortable, flycut. Either way, it clears.

i just got finished putting an ms4 in my car w/ bolt ons. The ptvc was .67 on intake and.89 on exhaust. I decided to go ahead and use it with stock ls6 heads and gasket. I didn't flycut and it made 421 rwhp and 395 tq with a bbk tb that wasn't even opening all the way cause i didn't have a spacer on it. But i also got a good tune from vengeance racing so it drives fine. Just check ptvc because it will be different on every motor. Beware though, this cam doesn't have much below 4,000 rpms, but above that it pulls like a freight train!!!

021less, do you have a pic of your graph? On most MS4 graphs I have seen, I see some pretty big low end power numbers. Like 350 at 3k! Thats more than what my car makes at 6k! lol You think its that there is just so much power coming in at 4k it makes everything else feel slow? Just wondering because I have a MS4 in my room waiting to be installed and I dont want to be to dissapointed with my low end grunt...

You should be fine without flycutting.

Well I don't think it doesn't have anything below, it is just that the power does come on hard after 4000 so it feels like it has nothing below in comparison but it will have way more than stock. My. 02
