Default Optium shift point for a ms3 cam?

Yeah I was wondering what would be the optimal shift point if I was running a ms3 cam? Thanks.

I got heads and cam but my MS3 peaked at 6400 and then leveled off. That was with the TSP mail order tune so it might be higher now. I shift at 6500 right now but I'll be shifting at 7000 after a couple of more mods

I've got mine shifting at 6400. I did'nt get no real gain out of going any higher.

Well hmm, lets see....my MS3 made great power @ 7k, and was still climbing with my set up (fast 9090, EWP heads, blabla) on the dyno...

I shift @ 6800 cause I feel bad for the motor, but anyday I will take her to 7000, if I have to

ps- I dont like reving to the moon, I am swapping cams to something with a more useable, safer powerband.....just food for thought, MS3 is a track cam IMO

Depends on the rest of the specs... even for the most qualified cam expert on here (which I am no where near) to give a legitimate guess; they would need to know your LSA (lobe seperation angle), your ICL (intake center line, often just referred to as advance), and whether or not it was installed straight up (dot to dot) or if it was installed with an adjustable timing set and either advanced or retarded.

FWIW, my LSA is 113, dot-to-dot, no retard/advance added or ground in...

If you are sure about that, you should try just advancing your cam and see where that gets you. I must admit though, I would be very suprised if you do not have some advance already ground in. I think Comp tends to default on +4 (so I have heard) so unless TSP specified something else, I would suspect you might have that.

Shift points can only be determined by real track trial and error. Basically you want to maintain the highest average HP between shifts.

It is that simple...

Shift points can be differents from one gear to another one.

Post that Dyno sheet, and just find the average between peek and where it levels off. I.E. if it peeks at 6400, drops 10 hp to 6800, and 20hp to 6900, You'll benefit most to shift before 69 hundo...

Yeah, the 6400 works well for me in my auto; but that don't mean it will be right on for you. Auto or M6. Lot of determining factors. Good luck!
