Pulled the valve covers, everything looked really clean, springs were fine, valves moved as they should when cranked over for a few seconds. All of the rockers are in good shape as far as I could tell... Still scratching my head...

it seems we share the same problem. i have the tiny metal flakes you are talking about. i am guessing this is from rods and mains. let me know what you find. as for know, i am going with the out of sight out of mind, and if it fails then its time for more cubes theory . if a cam lobe was wearing i think that would be a noticable change in how the engine runs, eh?

Just an update for everyone else. The motor let go shortly after I started this thread. Spun 2 main bearings, ruined the crank and 4 rods.

If you see metal in the oil, STOP DRIVING THE CAR AND GET IT TO A SHOP... or end up like me and have to build an entire new motor.
