Installed Melling 10296 Oil pump on 135K mile motor
Did a cam swap on project Wife's car and installed a melling oil pump at the same time. Just wanted to report pressure findings for search purposes...
I went against popular suggestion and left the red spring installed
I don't think the pressure is super excessive. With fresh 10W30 oil, the car started up and made 60 psi. As the engine (and oil) warmed up, it dropped to about 50 or so at idle. With the engine revved up, it jumped to about 70.
Typical recommendation is 10psi/1000 rpm...so if the pump will give 70 psi max, thats pretty good for a 7000 rpm motor
