Help me decide how to spend some $$
I have a 3k budget to work with (will need to pay $50 an hour for labor) , so figure $1800 to spend on parts
I am looking to get a nasty cam like a Magic 4, with new springs/pushrods/ls6 oil pump/double roller timing chain and a higher stall convertor w shiftkit and tranny cooler.............................
My currents mods are in my sig, its an A4 , 3.23 car, has 92k on it
It is a 1998
It only see's about 75 miles a week of summer driving, it is NOT daily driven and that is not a concern for me
I dont care about a rough idle, gas mileage, any of that
Any ideas what the perfect combo of cam and stall would be??
Dont want an all out race car but close........................
Of course I am figuring on a tune also
Thanks in advance

$750 Yank PT4000 will show HUGE gains. Stay with the pro thruster series. Hits softer off the line for street and very efficient on top. This is the #1 mod you should make.
$700 I would go G5X2 or G5X3 or even the Torquer II or III that builds pretty good torque. This price would be for the swap package including gaskets, bolts, valvesprings, etc.
$100 Mill the heads .030 for more compression. Will help the cam work.
$400 Tuning??? or do it yourself
This will give you the potential to run GREAT times, the rest will be getting the car setup to hook up good. Get some good tires and learn all the little tricks to cut that 60 ft. The stock suspension has potential. Spend less time in this forum and more time in the suspension & drag forum, providing that is your goal. Most of it won't cost you $. Like removing the front swaybar at the track, weight reduction, etc.

thanks for the advice, I am running Mickey Thompson ET streets on the back right now, weight reduction so far consists of the spare and jack being gone and no unnecessary stuff in the car and trying to keep it under half a tank.........
Car is a hardtop w cloth seats, single cd and painted rims, really dont want to rip anything off it besides trying to naturally keep it light

wel not this... yank ss 4000 stall ($675), ms4 on a 112lsa w/ ported oil pump n double roller chain n pulley ($1300) and throw some juice w/ purge window switch and heater ($900) and that comes out to a little under 3k and do all the work yourself to save money. the jobs arent that hard go on ls1howto.com or ask on the site and you will get picture by picture of steps needed to do things. (obviously these arent actual prices just a rough estimate)

If you can sacrifice a little driveability. You'll be reving to 2000-2500 to get going, but if you can live with that looseness, it's gonna shock the **** out of you how well it will run. Just remember a 4000 stall of different makes and of different styles can be totally different. The Yank SS4000 and TP4000 are nothing alike in my opinion. The SS4000 will daily drive better and be a little tighter, but the TP4000 will dominate it performance wise.
