Car overheats!
Car overheats! Ok on a 2000 camaro. The car will overheat for a few secs and then shoot back to normal operating temp. It only happens every so often. What could this be?
does it happen while sitting still or driving down the road? if you are sitting still temps get high but not into the red high, and the fans will kick in and cool it back down.
1-a loose fan fuse (or wire clip at the fan)
2-a sticky thermostat.(replaced it and it was ok)
3-low water level. (might think it`s in the proper range but try fillig both the radiator directly and it it`s full then from the filler tube might be from not filling it up and checking regularly or a small leak somewhere in the radiator side plastic pieces or a hose or the heater connection)
these happened to me in the past in many cars.

It does it while driving and while sitting. I know the fans work because I have a fan switch. I've checked to make sure they still come on automatically, and they do.

i had a similar incidence happen to me 2 years ago, had to get new meziere waterpump, thermostat, n just because i swappd a new radiator in. since the, runs like a champ 
my bet it's your thermostat or fans not kikn in at the right time, usually 195* or so.
