Default replacin ls1 bottom end

i have a 109k mile ls1 block in my 1998 z28 and i was wondering if replacing the whole bottom end with a 6.0 iron block would be possible?

using my 5.3 teas intake and fuel stuff would this even be a good idea?

(i figure it be easy to get some forged pistons while the 6.0 is out to bc i'm a bottle baby)

I agree, why not just forge the aluminum block?

Anyways, the 6l iorn short block will be a direct swap.

just rods and pistons, 1000-1500... that is if you stay with the stock crank. also have to add the cost of the shop to bore.(300-600 depending where you go) maybe a new oil pump while your in there 130

just depends how much upgrade you want to do and what power goals you have

You can get a forged 383 rotating assembly for your block for just over 2K. I will probably try to go that route, myself, next summer.

but considering the possibility of selling my ls1 block then forging my 6.0 then spraying the **** out of it, wouldn't it be reasonable at taht point?

I was also throwin around the idea of forging a extra stock LS1 short block. I figure I can find a high mileage short block for about $500. Then get the following:

Callies 6.125" LS1 Comp star rods w/ARP hardware $599
Mahle Fordge 346 LS1 pistons $509
Clevite bearing for complete motor $300 (kinda just guessed on this could be less)
ARP head bolts $140
GM heads/cam gasket kit $150

All parts from Texas Speed comes out to $1698 + shipping for parts w/o the extra short block. Thats using everything else that could transfer from my current motor. Plus the more work you can do yourself the more you'll save.
